Private Label From China: What to Check Before Production Starts

Putting your logo on a product is the easy part

Private label becomes serious when the product, packaging, compliance and repeatability all have to work together. ## Lock the product specification Confirm material, dimensions, colours, components, performance requirements and acceptable tolerances. If the factory changes a component later, you should know whether that changes quality or compliance. ## Approve the packaging before mass production Artwork, barcode, labels, carton marks, inner quantity and master-carton dimensions should be agreed early. Packaging affects both presentation and freight. ## Check India-side requirements Depending on the category, product or package labelling, BIS, CDSCO, WPC, FSSAI or other requirements may need to be considered. Do not wait until production is complete to ask. ## Samples are part of the commercial process For a new product, a good sample approval process can save far more than rushing directly into production. ## Plan for repeat orders Ask the factory how it will maintain the same material, colour, mould, packaging and specification for the next batch.
