A product may look like an ordinary speaker, watch, camera, printer or accessory, but if it contains radio-frequency transmission such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, an India-side wireless approval question can arise. ## What ETA is The Department of Telecommunications describes Equipment Type Approval as a certification issued by the WPC Wing for relevant wireless communication devices operating in de-licensed frequency bands or involving RF transmission. The applicable route depends on the equipment and current rules. ## Ask for technical information early Before ordering, obtain the exact model, frequency bands, RF module information and available test reports from the factory. “Bluetooth product” is not enough detail for a proper review. ## Do not assume one approval covers every model Different models, modules or technical specifications can matter.
