How to Source Press On Nails and Beauty Products from China

How to find trusted factories, judge quality, and price a beauty order properly before you commit to production.

Beauty is one of the busiest categories we source, and one of the easiest to get wrong. The products look simple, the sample arrives quickly, and the first quotation is cheap. The cost that catches people out arrives later, in rework, in labelling, or at customs.

This is the order we work in.

Start with the exact product, not the category

"Press on nails" is not one product. A plain press on set, a set with an adhesive tab, and a gel that cures under a lamp are three different things commercially. They can sit in different review routes, use different materials, and carry different labelling requirements.

Write down the specification before you ask for prices: material, size range, finish, packaging, and how the product is applied. A factory quoting against a clear specification gives you a number you can hold them to.

Shortlist factories, then verify them

We look for makers who already produce your exact item, not a neighbouring one. From there the checks are practical:

  • Business licence and scope, checked against what they claim to make
  • Photographs and video of the actual line, not a showroom
  • Samples from production tooling rather than a hand made one off
  • A named contact who answers technical questions without deflecting

Treat the sample as a test of the factory

A good sample proves the factory can make the thing once. What you are really testing is whether they can repeat it. Ask for two samples from separate batches and compare them. Ask what changes at higher volume. The answers tell you more than the sample does.

Get the compliance question asked early

Cosmetic formulations, adhesives and anything making a skin claim can require review before import into India, and the route depends on the exact product rather than the category. We raise this at the quotation stage, not after the cargo is packed, because it can change the packaging, the labelling and the timeline.

Final classification always depends on the product, its specification and the regulations in force at the time of review.

Price the landed cost, not the unit price

The number that matters is the cost of the goods in your warehouse: product, packaging, China handling and export charges, freight, duty and clearance, and final delivery. A lower factory price that adds a compliance problem is not a saving.

If you are weighing up a beauty order, send us the product photo or link, your quantity and your destination city, and we will come back with the practical route.
